1989 University of Waikato is first NZ institution with connection to net

1995 research/educational institutions account for only half of NZ's international net traffic

1995 Internet Society of New Zealand (ISOCNZ) established

1995 ISOCNZ gains broad policy responsibility for dot-nz

1996 University of Waikato academic passes delegation to ISOCNZ with support of IANA

1997 Domainz established by ISOCNZ to provide registry and registrar services

2000 Domainz takes running of dot-nz registry from Uni of Waikato

2001 ISOCNZ becomes InternetNZ

2001 'bank' 2LD proposal rejected
